A survey carried out by the job search advice site Zety reveals the paradoxes concerning the perception of certain professions.

The respectability that halos certain professions is not always enough to arouse vocations. According to a survey by the job search advice site Zety, doctors, scientists and farmers, who garnered an equal 83% of the votes, ranked first as the most valued occupations. They are closely followed by firefighters and teachers, also tied at 82%, then by nurses (81%) and members of the army (80%). No wonder, altruistic professions are popular. Opportunities to care for others, to be trustworthy and essential to society are the top three criteria put forward by respondents, representative of the population as a whole, to define what makes a profession worthwhile.

But human nature has its paradoxes. Also questioned on whether they would like to exercise these professions that they acclaim, the respondents vary their answers. If the profession of scientist remains in first position, it only collects 71% of memberships, farmers 70%, while doctors (66%) are relegated to fifth place. The status of entrepreneur, which only appeared in eleventh place among the most respected professions, with 65% of the votes, on the other hand operates a meteoric rise on the second step of the podium, at 70%. Good last, politicians, reality TV stars and influencers do not arouse more respect than envy.
