Did you know ? The technology allowing the number to be displayed during a call is not infallible, far from it…

There was a time when it was impossible to know who was ringing the house phone without picking up the receiver. For several years now, our modern telephones have displayed the incoming number, and sometimes even the identity of the caller. Enough to filter calls on the one hand (and avoid the scourge of cold calling), but also to know precisely who is on the other end of the line before even answering. At least, that’s what we think…

On the line, fake bankers, but real crooks

Of course, displaying the bank’s authentic telephone number on the victim’s smartphone gives them confidence, even before accepting the call. And these software are used by many companies.

Note that when calls are made from France, operators can check a certain form of match. However, this type of scam is generally issued from abroad, and thus slips through the cracks.

In the event of a fraudulent transaction in progress on your bank account, your advisor will never ask you for confidential information over the telephone or to carry out any financial transaction remotely. And if you have the slightest suspicion about the person you are talking to, hang up immediately and call your bank back through the usual channel to warn them that scammers are using their telephone number to scam their customers. Gone are the days of clumsy and frumpy emails that tried to phish us…
