You can enhance an outfit with the right styling, but you can also do a lot wrong if you are not careful. We explain which 5 styling mistakes can ruin even the best outfit.

The skirt, the shirt, the necklace and the shoes – they all look great, but something isn’t quite right. do you know that Sometimes it’s just the little things that can ruin what looks great at first glance. It’s worth taking a closer look in the mirror at home. We’ll explain what you need to watch out for so you don’t make one of the following styling mistakes.

1. Bra straps are visible

Let’s start at the top. Nothing ruins the look of a beautiful dress like bra straps peeking out at the shoulders. Possibly in a color that clashes with the tone of the dress. This looks particularly bad with wide-cut evening or summer dresses with fine spaghetti straps. The underwear should also not be visible at the armholes under the armpits. It is best to choose a strapless bra or a dress that is so tight at the top that you can do without a bra.

Advanced fashionistas can also opt for a look where the bra is intentionally visible – such as a luxurious lace bra with the rim peeking out from under the dress. However, such a variant requires a lot of styling feeling and the parts have to be optimally coordinated.

2. Hanging straps peek out from under clothing

You probably know them – the hanging straps that are located at the neckline on the back of shirts and some sweaters. They are mainly intended to make it easier to attach clothes to hangers in fashion shops. You can of course leave these on your clothes so that you can hang them up better in your closet. If, however, they quickly slip out of the neckline when wearing the parts, the ribbons should be removed. Just like bra straps, they can also visually ruin your outfit because it just looks messy.

3. Creases

There are fabrics that unfortunately wrinkle very quickly. Ironing after washing is a must. Even if the parts have been in the cupboard in between, there are unsightly creases in some places and should be worked on again. Unfortunately, the most beautiful blouse and the greatest skirt no longer look good if they have too many folds. This can make the whole look seem careless.

If you are an absolute hater of ironing, then it is best to go for fabrics that do not crease when buying clothes.

4. Avoid dry bumps

You probably know it: when you hang your sweaters or shirts out to dry, bulges can appear on the shoulders, which simply look bulky when the garment is worn. A nice, stylish shirt can look strange very quickly. So try to hang your clothes in such a way that there are no bumps.

5. Knots, lint, hair & co

Clothing often needs a little extra care in addition to washing and drying. You should regularly work on knitted parts with a lint razor so that the knots that unfortunately keep appearing are removed. These can permanently destroy the appearance of a beautiful knitted piece.

Exactly the same applies to lint and hair. Especially on black parts, light colored hairs, like your pet’s, look terrible. It is worthwhile to always have a lint brush or lint tape roller within reach. Otherwise you’ll quickly look unkempt.
