According to a study by a recruitment firm conducted in more than five countries, a profile category is gaining more and more recognition. The values and skills conveyed speak clearly to recruiters.

While we were wondering which were the professions that recruit the most in 2023, a new study by the firm Censuswide commissioned by Youtube comes to light a new type of profile increasingly popular with recruiters. In recent years, if there was a passion that many avoided mentioning in their CVit was indeed that of gaming. Yet it is with surprise that we note a change in mindset.
These are more than 1,900 recruiters from 5 different countries (France, Spain, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates) who participated in this survey set up by the firm Censuswide and their return is surprising! 59% of them say they prefer a gamer profile when recruiting. Indeed, certain behavioral skills related to the practice of gaming are highly valued by recruiters: anticipation, reactivity, sense of strategy or pressure management.

An increasingly popular passion
Whether on the side of applicants, but also recruiters, the practice of gaming is more and more popular. 56% of hirers in France even admit to being “impressed by a candidate who uses a hobby such as video games to illustrate the skills they have acquired“. For the applicants, for their part, they praise the merits of gaming, in fact 47% of those questioned claim to have won in insurance thanks to video games and better cope with “aproblems in the world of work“.
But then when you start in the world of work, is it really useful to mention this passion in your CV? For many, wrongly, they do not dare to stipulate the practice of gaming because of the lackluster image that geeks had at the time, lazy, lonely, with bizarre interests. From now on no more need to be ashamed! The success of e-sport and the increasingly common practice of gaming have made it possible to restore the image of this activity! So go ahead and don’t be afraid to mention video games in your resume.
