The project to pool means of access to cash (…) will start its operational phase at the beginning of next year, declared Thierry Laborde, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas in charge of retail banking networks in particular. , on the occasion of the creation of the National Committee for Payment Methods (CNMP) in the Parisian premises of the Citco museum.
Mr. Laborde is also Vice-Chairman in charge of the college of suppliers of means and payment systems of this committee, chaired by the Banque de France.
BNP Paribas, Crdit Mutuel and Socit Gnrale announced in October 2021 that they were studying a project to pool their network of ATMs in France.
In practice, this sharing should allow customers of the three brands to benefit free of charge from enhanced access to the services offered by their banks on common ATMs, namely cash deposits and withdrawals, check deposits, account consultation or the printing of RIB.
It is not a project of place, recalled Mr. Laborde, but of three banking groups which represent roughly 40% of the supply of access to ATMs.

Also present at Citco, the co-president of the CNMP Erick Lacourrge specified that the Banque de France welcomed the subject with interest and a benevolent view.
On one condition, he continued, that this does not result in a reduction in the population’s access to distributors, a point on which he obtained guarantees from the banks.
No ATM should be closed in rural and isolated areas, assured one of the three banks during the presentation of the initial project.
Mr. Laborde does not have first the dressing of these common distributors, neutral or in the colors of the banks.
The number of distributors continues to decline: the metropolis had 47,853 ATMs at the end of last year, i.e. almost 10% less than at the end of 2018, according to the Banque de France.
