A report by cybersecurity experts reveals that the games most targeted by hackers are Minecraft, Roblox, Apex or Fortnite. The communities of players being younger, they would be more likely to fall into scams.

During 2022, the company’s cybersecurity software detected more than 7 million attacks in titles categorized as ” popular with very young people ยป, an increase of 57% compared to 2021.
Among the most targeted universes, Minecraft is by far the favorite terrain of criminals with 55.8% of hacking operations detected, followed by Roblox (15.4%) and Among Us (10.9%). More than 878,000 phishing pages were generated for Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite And Apex Legends 2022.
Hackers want to steal parents’ credit card
According to Kaspersky, criminal hackers rely on the naivety of children and teenagers in the hope of stealing their parents’ banking data. Thus, the main scams consist of offering so-called lots of virtual currencies for free. To receive these fake packs, criminals develop various booby-trapped pages, propelled on Google or social networks.
Another scam targets games exclusively online, likeApex Legends, by offering to improve the characteristics of his character for a sum. The only winner in history will be the hacker. Cybersecurity experts note that most fraudulent sites are boosted so that they end up among the first links referenced on Google.
It is usually recommended to check the domain name of the sites and to go only to the official sites, from the pages of social networks, for example.
