This Monday, Xiaomi renewed a large part of its Redmi range by announcing the arrival in France of the Redmi Watch 4, the Redmi Note 13, Note 13 Pro and Note 13 Pro+, but also two new pairs of inexpensive headphones , the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro.

We are dealing here with two pairs of headphones with very different characteristics, even if the two models offer a similar design, with a support rod and an in-ear format.

Redmi Buds 5 Pro which have all the high-end models

In detail, the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro had already been presented last November in China, on the occasion of the Chinese launch of the Redmi Note 13 range. These are, as a reminder, headphones equipped with a double transducer system for each ear. We are thus entitled to 11 mm transducers which will be used to reproduce low frequencies and to 10 mm transducers responsible for higher-pitched sounds. This system has the advantage of offering more detailed sound.

The Redmi Buds 5 Pro are also compatible with the LDAC codec in addition to SBC, AAC and LC3, thus allowing Xiaomi to add the “Hi-Res Audio Wireless“. Spatial audio is also included, as is multipoint Bluetooth via the Bluetooth 5.3 standard and Bluetooth LE Audio.

The Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro also benefit from an active noise reduction function using three microphones positioned on each earphone. Enough to allow, according to Xiaomi, to reduce external sounds by up to 50 dB up to 4 kHz. Obviously, a transparent mode is also included to remain aware of your environment. The headphones are also IP54 certified and can therefore resist splashes, rain or perspiration.

Concerning autonomy, traditionally the weak point of headphones with dual transducers, Xiaomi announces up to 10 hours of use on the headphones alone and 38 hours using the battery in the charging case.

More classic Redmi Buds 5

For their part, the standard Redmi Buds 5 offer a much more classic technical sheet. The headphones certainly have the same format as the higher-end models, but with a single 12.4 mm transducer per ear. Active noise reduction is also included, but is limited to a reduction of 46 dB at 2 kHz using two microphones. They are also limited to SBC and AAC codecs only, without LDAC or LC3.

On the other hand, the Redmi Buds 5 retain the same IP54 waterproof certification, multipoint Bluetooth is still there and the announced autonomy is 10 hours and up to 40 hours with the charging case.
