“They regret it now”: these two stars refused to work on Ocean’s Eleven


While at the TCM Classic Film Festival, George Clooney revealed that two very famous actors had declined the role of Matt Damon in Steven Soderbergh’s famous heist film.

Famous heist film in which Danny Ocean aims to assemble the best team to simultaneously rob the three largest casinos in Las Vegas, Ocean’s Eleven notably brought together George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and Andy Garcia in front of Steven’s camera Soderbergh.

However, as the main actor of the film recently revealed, during a visit to the TCM Classic Film Festival, several renowned actors refused to join the band when the project was launched in the early 2000s.

“Steven had just directed Eric Brockovich and Traffic, and he was named [aux Oscars] for both movies. So people wanted to work with him.” thus told George Clooney.

“That said, some people told us no”said Soderbergh, also present at the event.

“In effect”Clooney confirmed. “Very famous people told us to go fuck ourselves. Mark Wahlberg, Johnny Depp. And there were others. They regret it now. I regret doing that f*ck ***Batman.”

A real commercial and critical success when it was released in theaters in 2002, Ocean’s Eleven quickly established itself as a staple of the genre, and was even given three sequels.
