On July 6, 2008, Thierry Chauvineau was found shot dead at his home in Saint-Doulchard, near Bourges in the Cher. There are no signs of a break-in. The house safe is found open and empty but investigators do not know what it contained. The murder weapon is found in 2010 in another case in Seine-Saint-Denis. Despite a lengthy investigation, no serious leads have been found and no suspects have been brought to justice.

In 2010, the Chauvineau family launched an appeal for witnesses and even went so far as to promise a large reward to anyone who could provide information to solve the case. But, again, it is a failure. “All our life we ​​will hope. But we don’t even know the motive”, told Paul Chauvineau, the son of the victim to a local newspaper. The judicial investigation even ended with a dismissal, after six years of instruction. He was confirmed on appeal in March 2015, despite the family’s desire to continue the investigation. The murder of Thierry Chauvineau therefore remains today a mystery.
