Thinning hair: interesting facts and instructions

Thick hair is a blessing and a curse at the same time: It's nice when you have a lot of volume on your head, but too full hair can quickly ruin your hairstyle. In that case, the hair can be thinned out. You can find out exactly how this works and what you have to consider here!

When should you thin your hair?

We are often proud of our full mane – but there are also situations in which very full and thick hair can be disturbing:

  • The hairstyle just doesn't fit the way it should due to the thick hair.
  • Certain haircuts make it look like a wig on very thick hair … especially when it comes to straight bob hairstyles or short hairstyles like the pixie cut.
  • Your hair is so heavy that it hangs down flat with no curve or shape.
  • You want to curl your curls, but they hang out again immediately.
  • Updo hairstyles just don't want to last due to the mass of hair – no matter how many bobby pins do it!
  • Hair that is too heavy can cause headaches and neck pain under certain circumstances, a little more lightness would be nicer …
  • Do you have the feeling that your thick hair does not match your overall appearance? Perhaps you should consider thinning out here, too, because thick hair can sometimes appear disproportionate, especially with small women.

  1. Comb your hair thoroughly.
  2. Using a line, divide all of your hair into two equal sections up to the nape of the neck.
  3. Then you take out a single strand about 3 to 4 centimeters thick and comb this strand.
  4. Take the thinning scissors, place them in the middle of the strand and pull them down. Hold your hair by the tips as you do this. As soon as you cut with the thinning scissors, you will see that some of them come off. Continue with the scissors, starting a few inches further down the strand several times until you get to your fingers. The strand of hair therefore becomes thinner and thinner towards the tips.
  5. Work your way through all the strands and continue with the second section of hair …
  6. At the end, comb the hair again and touch up individual strands if necessary.
