This actor took on Spider-Man! His dream now: to play Batman!

After taking over the role played by Patrick Swayze in the remake of “Road House” by Doug Liman, Jake Gyllenhaal would like to play the famous batman.

Starring in the action film Road House, available on Prime Video this Thursday, March 21, Jake Gyllenhaal was interviewed by Screen Rant on his projects and on Batman…

James Gunn and Peter Safran are in the midst of a reshuffle of the new DC cinematic universe, the role of Batman has not yet been assigned and many fans would like Jake Gyllenhaal to succeed Ben Affleck.

And the actor doesn’t seem to be against it… Gyllenhaal has indeed stressed that it would be an honor for him to play the Dark Knight.

“Batman is a classic. It would be an honor. Right now I’m going to play Iago in Othello with Denzel Washington. I think of all the actors who have played this character before me, it’s intimidating and it’s the same with Batman. But of course it would be an honor. These roles are classics.”

As a reminder, Robert Pattinson, Matt Reeves’ Batman is not part of the official DCU. These are separate films, like Todd Phillips’ Joker with Joaquin Phoenix.

From Marvel to DC?

The 43-year-old American actor has already played a Marvel superhero since he played Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. If he was chosen for the Dark Knight, he would not be the only actor to have played a hero in both universes, the best example being Christian Bale who lent his features to Batman in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy and to Gorr the Slayer of Gods in Thor: Love & Thunder.

Jake Gyllenhaal is obviously not the only actor whose name is circulating among DC fans since those of Alan Ritchson (Jack Reacher) and Jensen Ackles (The Boys) have also been mentioned.

While waiting to know who will lend his features to the new DCU Batman for Andy Muschietti’s film The Brave and the Bold, Jake Gyllenhaal is starring in Doug Liman’s action film Road House on Prime Video.
