This astonishing sign would make it possible to detect a deficiency of vitamin B12: Current Woman The MAG

Vitamin B12 is essential for the body because it promotes the production of red blood cells and the proper functioning of the nervous system. This vitamin, also called colabamine, comes mainly from the consumption of animal foods such as eggs, meats, fish and dairy products.

A deficiency of vitamin B12 or cobalamin manifests itself by various symptoms such as anemia, fatigue, shortness of breath, memory problems or even palpitations.

A recent article by the Association of Physicians of the United Kingdom reveals a new sign which could alert to a deficiency in vitamin B12: the loss of the sensation of vibrations. Appeared in the QJM, a scientific journal, the research began with a patient who no longer felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. According to research, this loss of sensitivity occurs in the early stages of deficiency.

For many years, the patient was on a vegetarian diet. During medical examinations, the scientists did not detect anything abnormal except recent memory losses and the absence of the vibratory sensation. As for the blood samples, the patient was in good health, but had a low level of vitamin B12.

To remedy this vitamin B12 deficiency, the specialists decided to prescribe monthly injections of cobalamin to the patient. After several weeks of treatment, B12 levels in his body returned to normal. The researchers also noted an improvement in his memory. And the latter has also regained the ability to feel vibrations.

Scientists say loss of sensitivity to vibration may be a harbinger of vitamin B12 deficiency. "A decrease in the vibratory sensation in the lower limbs is a common early symptom", explain the researchers.
