A huge two-part action film on Netflix is currently enjoying huge success. Enough success to hope for a long television saga?
Video streaming platform Netflix often turns everything it touches into gold. Even the least popular films and series. Indeed, we can no longer count the number of programs which are very far from having been acclaimed, but which nevertheless attract millions of subscribers. And the firm with the red N loves it when its productions accumulate millions of views or viewing hours. Currently, a huge project is a huge success, despite all the negative feedback.
A Netflix film saga may have just been born
By investing in the new film Rebel Moon by Zack Snyder, which is available in two parts on the platform, Netflix had a keen eye. The first feature film was an immediate success and its sequel follows the same path, even though the reviews are even worse. If we look on Rotten Tomatoes, Rebel Moon Part 2: The Slasher receives catastrophic scores of 15% (press) and 52% (spectators), compared to 21% and 57% for Rebel Moon Part 1: The Child of fire. Despite this, Rebel Moon 2 is number one in the top 10 most watched Netflix films in the world, including in France.
What already validates the development of a Rebel Moon Part 3? Netflix has not communicated its intentions. On the other hand, actress Sofia Boutella, who plays Kora, is more than up for it. She is very excited by a hypothetical third film, and also by the idea of finding Zack Snyder on the film set.

Because that’s what we say at the end of the second movie. And then it would be fun to go back on set with Zack because we all love being a part of this project so much.

In her interview with The Direct, she even confided that she would not be against a TV series. ” Why not ?! I will have to read. It depends if Netflix does it and if Zack does it. I am not closed to the idea of working, of being creative and above all of taking on a character like Kora” she added.
Six Rebel Moon films in total?
Sofia Boutella would therefore like to return for Rebel Moon 3 or a television series, but it all depends on Netflix. Because on the side of director Zack Snyder, there are plans for a colossal cinematographic saga. “We have many, many films planned. Only three left. Only four left. And I’ll go further: we have everything planned until the sixth film. Or rather a trilogy, each film being made up of two parts. Netflix is interested, but let’s see how these first films perform…” said co-writer Kurt Johnstad (via ScreenRant).
