This child’s bicycle seat presents a chemical risk: the recall is immediate

The Thule RideAlong child bicycle seat has been recalled due to a chemical risk on a component. The brand replaces it free of charge.

It is one of the most recognized manufacturers in the world of bicycle accessories that is being called to order: Thule is in fact today at the heart of a recall. The Swedish brand is launching this voluntary campaign on its RideAlong child seat, after identifying a very compromising problem.

What seat model and what exact risk?

Specifically, the bike seat in question has harness padding that can “contain flame retardant DecaBDE beyond regulatory limits”. Thule explains that this compound “presents a chemical risk”. Indeed, when it comes to our little ones, we don’t skimp on health.

The recall concerns only this model, and copies “manufactured between March 1, 2021 and October 31, 2023”. The manufacturer adds that the new generation “Thule RideAlong 2 or any other product is not affected”.

What to do if you have the recalled Thule bike seat?

First, the brand asks you to confirm that you are in possession of an affected model. To find out, the label under the seat indicates a reference number, followed by the year and month. The numbers to remember are therefore: “100 107/21/03” to “100 107/23/10” (see photo). However, if a second “QC 2024” label is affixed, there is nothing to do because the check has already been carried out.

Once confirmation has been made, the Scandinavian firm advises no longer using the Thule RideAlong. You must then register a request for replacement of the harness, which will be sent directly. The explanation of the installation is already published on the official website at this address.
