This Chinese electric car is shown in photos before its officialization

Halfway between SUV and minivan, this new Chinese electric car should delight families, especially since its electric version benefits from an interesting range of more than 600 km. We can expect to see it arrive in Europe.

In the unforgiving world of Chinese electric cars, a newcomer will soon appear. This is not yet another tasteless electric SUV that looks like all the others, since this model adopts a rather interesting style, halfway between SUV and minivaneven leaning a little more towards the latter.

Her name ? The eπ 008, a product of the Dongfeng group, and above all a new brand launched a year ago which is located above the Voyah brand of the same group, marketed in Europe. The first model to be launched under the eπ brand was the eπ 007, an electric sedan, marketed on March 14.

Generous dimensions for the well-being of families

Spy photos of the new 008 emerged earlier this month, and today we uncover even more details about the vehicle, which will be revealed at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show later this month.

The images show that the eπ 008 shares a similar aesthetic language with the eπ 007 sedan. Overall, whether for the front or the rear, it still lacks a little exoticism and Chinese models tend to follow each other and look alike.

On the other hand, as stated above, the silhouette is interesting and indicates that the emphasis has been placed on habitability. Gone is the receding roofline of coupe SUVs, here the roof drop is clearer. A bit like a Volvo EX90. In terms of dimensions, the eπ 008 measures 5.00 meters long, 1.97 meters wide and 1.73 meters highall with a wheelbase of 3.03 meters.

As for the interior, spy photos of the eπ 008’s cabin reveal a minimalist approach similar to that of the eπ 007’s design. The whole thing is very refined, with the almost total absence of physical buttons.

The steering wheel features a two-spoke, flat design, accompanied by a fully digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen. Here again, it’s nothing very original compared to what we’re used to seeing. This model will emphasize habitability with six seats on board.

An SUV that will be limited to the Chinese market

In terms of engines, there will be a plug-in hybrid version with a 1.5 liter thermal engine combined with an electric motor, all for a 100% electric range of 154 km.

The version that interests us the most is obviously the electric one, and this one will be equipped with a block of 272 hp and especially, a range of 636 km according to the Chinese CLTC cycleor approximately 570 km according to the European WLTP cycle.

Finally for the latter, it is not really important given the fact that this model should never arrive in Europe, or at least not under this brand.
