Huawei is trying somehow to continue to exist in the telephony market, but has been limited by the American embargo since 2019. The manufacturer can no longer use the Google software suite or 5G-enabled processors.
The Huawei P50 Pro, the brand’s flagship smartphone, is thus limited to 4G. However, it will soon be possible to circumvent this concern thanks to a shell. Quite simply.

Indeed, Soyealink has designed a specially dedicated Huawei terminal shell. As we can see, it’s a very classic cover and it protects the phone. But it does more, in reality, since inside, there is an eSIM and a 5G modem.
The case connects to your smartphone via USB Type-C, so it’s impossible to charge it without removing it. But in return, it allows you to switch to a higher speed for those who really need the 5G network. It weighs 52 grams and is 3.2 mm thick, i.e. the size of a “classic” hull.
This somewhat special object can be pre-ordered on the manufacturer’s website from June 10 and sales will begin on June 17. At present, it is reserved only for the Chinese market and works with a single operator, China Unicom. The displayed price is of 799 yuan, or 110 euros. It is not known if a marketing in Europe is planned. Only the P50 Pro currently has the right to this little gadget, but the manufacturer has announced that other Huawei smartphones will have the right to it in the future.

In any case, this is a very clever strategy to circumvent the problem of the embargo. As a reminder, this prohibits Huawei from working with American manufacturers or manufacturers linked to the United States.
