This dad’s little daily gesture helped reduce his daughter’s anxiety

In the United States, the adorable ritual of a dad and daughter made headlines.

Self-confidence is an important thing, which we sometimes lack at certain points in life. In the United States, Chris Yandle, a father of two, experienced it indirectly with his eldest daughter, Addison. Due to his professional career, he and his family had to relocate several times, until he lost his job in 2016 and returned to his hometown of Louisiana. At that time, her daughter entered CM1 and tried to integrate into her fourth school. “After all these moves, we started to notice that she was very anxious and worried about school”, he says on Good Morning America.

One day in 2017, he then decides to slip a little encouraging note in the young girl’s lunch box, in order to cheer her up when she is at school. He reiterates the next day, then the following weeks and months. In total, this ritual will last four years, for no less than 690 written notes! From humorous messages to real life lessons, Chris has had to innovate to write a different note every day.

Real results

At the origin of these notes, a certain guilt on the part of Chris Yandle, because of all the moves imposed on his family. “I felt bad and blamed myself. It was then that the ritual of little words began ”, he explains during the show. And the positive effects will not only serve his daughter, since after a month or two, the dad realizes that writing these notes is also beneficial to himself. “I too needed this daily reminder to convince myself that I could face a new day. In a way, our lives were alike. ” Her daughter Addison, meanwhile, clearly benefited from the positive vibes of those Daily Notes.

Her parents remember that when she returned to fifth grade her behavior changed. “More confident and more independent”, It was a real pleasure for them to watch him get better.
