More than 40 years after the death of Patrick Dewaere, singer Julien Clerc confided in his first stormy meeting with the actor.
Already more than forty years since the actor Patrick Dewaere left us. If the public remembers him for his roles in A trillion dollars, a bad son or Goodbye Chicken, Julien Clerc has a completely different memory of the former great French comedian. Indeed, when they met, they shared the same darling, Sylvette Herry known as Miou-Miou. The singer met her on the set of the film Love and fresh waterin the 1970s, and the alchemy was made immediately between them.
Only then, she was already committed to someone else, Patrick Dewaere, who had just give him a daughter named Angèle. As he relates in the columns of Cine TV RevueJulien Clerc will always remember from when the comedian came to confront him about his affair : “He had come to expect me at the end of the filming of D’amour et d’eau fraîche. He knew what was going on between Miou-Miou and me. He punched me in the face.”
How Julien Clerc helped Patrick Dewaere get his head above water
If Julien Clerc could only be satisfied with the fact that Miou-Miou left Patrick Dewaere for him, he had compassion for the actor. Although it may have seemed inappropriate, he offered to accompany him in this painful ordeal: “Patrick had left sad, full of misfortune, angry at the same time. Then time passed, and he had to manage things well with his daughter. So I called him, we saw a shrink, who asked that he also come to the sessions. There, suddenly, we had a conversation, if not friendly, at least calm. I deduced that he didn’t want me anymore. I didn’t know him very well, but I’m intuitive enough to sense the discomfort he carried around with him. As a reminder, Patrick Dewaere has decided to put an end to one’s life to end one’s suffering ; he died on July 16, 1982 of a bullet to the head.
