A higher levy for 3 months to be expected

By claiming the monthly payment of your local taxes during the year, you will have to catch up with the monthly payments of the last few months. The monthly direct debit will in fact be set up on the 15th of the following month, from July 15 for a request in June, and in any case before June 30. The sum of the direct debits due since January 1st is distributed in equal parts over your first three monthly direct debitswarns the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP).

The monthly payment normally amounts to dividing the estimated tax by 10, and staggering the payments over 10 months, from January to October. By starting a monthly payment in July, you will pay more than a usual monthly payment in July, August and September, and return to the normal withdrawal in October. As a reminder, the month of October will also be that of the regularization of the annual balance for the 2023 property tax. If this increases slightly, the monthly payment could be slightly higher than expected. And if it increases very sharply, the DGFiP can give you an extra chance in mid-November. For example, if your property tax increases by 10% in the example above, and rises to 1100 euros, an additional 100 euros will be levied in November 2023.

But you will still have already paid most of your debt, and experienced the unpleasant fall surprise.
