Discover one of the Disney classics available on the Disney+ platform, which offers one of the most striking villains of all cartoons.
Available on Disney+, Basil, private detective is a classic Disney animation, which is however less known than other films from the same era such as The Little Mermaid or Oliver & Company. However, it deserves that you introduce it to your children, from 8 years old.
Basil, private detective has a very simple scenario (an inventor is kidnapped to make a machine that will be used in a plot and he must be found) but very spectacular. Completed in 1h14, it is extremely efficient, offers a rather unique atmosphere in the Disney universe and will delight children thanks to its main heroes inspired by Sherlock Holmes and its well-drawn secondary characters.
What they will love:
- The very cozy English atmosphere based on tea, small cakes and humor around the awkwardness of Dawson.
- The songs from the movie let me spoil you during the bar scene, Bye bye already during the trap scene and The Great Evil Geniusvery good presentation of the villain,
- Little Olivia, absolutely adorable, very moving when she talks about her kidnapped father and funny in her relationship with the dog Toby.
What may worry them:
- The slums of London and more generally the places visited by our heroes, often a little scary for the little ones. The rainy weather and the nocturnal atmosphere also contribute to this.
- Felicia, Ratigan’s domestic cat, shown as a gigantic beast and devouring one of her master’s minions under the horrified gaze of her comrades.
- Ratigan, especially when he transforms into an almost frenzied wild rat. His transformation on a stormy night and his claws at Basil come close to killing the hero. One of Disney’s most memorable villains, we tell you!
