This Elden Ring fan is challenging himself for a DLC that doesn’t exist (yet?)

A player obviously very fond ofElden Ring can’t wait to dive back into the Underworld with an expansion. Until she arrives, which is not guaranteed, he plans to kill Malenia, the worst boss, once a day.

Since the release ofElden Ring at the end of February, many players spent countless hours in search of the darkest secrets of the Underworld. And some are already impatient at the idea of returning there to experience something else. This is the case of a fan named SupremacyAce, who embarked on a funny quest: kill Malenia once a day until the release of an extension.

The enthusiast documents his obsession on Reddit, posting a clip of his triumph every day (videos are 3-5 minutes long, depending on how the fight unfolds). His last split was on June 29, the day he beat Malenia for the 14th time in a row. Its goal ? Wait like this until the release of a DLC to Elden Ring. We hope for him that the Japanese studio FromSoftware will formalize such a project very quickly.

Will there be a DLC for Elden Ring ?

To date, neither FromSoftware nor Bandai Namco have confirmed anything about any new big content in the colors ofElden Ring. The passive of the studio invites to the optimist: it regularly proposed extensions. However, this is not necessarily automatic. And as long as nothing is announced, it is difficult to bet on a return to the Entre-Terre in the months to come.

FromSoftware and its liabilities in extensions :

game nameExtension(s)
Demon’s Souls (2009)
Dark Souls (2011)
Dark Souls II (2014)✅ (3)
Bloodborne (2015)✅ (1)
Dark Souls III (2016)✅ (2)
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019)

As this table shows, FromSoftware has made a habit of developing an extension (or even several) for its most recent video games. Only Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an exception to this rule. In which camp will be Elden Ring ? No one knows, but its very large open world is fertile ground for additional campaigns. It is also useful to remember that commercial success is there: more than 13 million copies sold. Developers would be wrong to deprive themselves of a way to capitalize on it, in order to generate ever more revenue.

It’s hard to see SupremacyAce’s initiative as anything more than a way to lobby Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. Malenia is one of the worst enemies to face in the game, which constitutes a form of torture for the interested party (even if he masters the face-to-face to perfection). FromSoftware won’t embark on an unplanned project to end its suffering, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Incidentally, this very personal mission proves, once again, how Elden Ring unleashes passions.
