This electric beach car includes a fridge to cool beers

Dutch company Savage Rivale unveils the Coastrunner EV, a high-end, 100% electric beach car. Currently at the prototype stage, it is however already available to order.

You don’t know the company Savage Rivale? Rest assured, this is completely normal. But it is very likely that you will hear more and more about the Dutch company over the next few years. The design studio, notably behind the incredible Roadyacht GTS equipped with a V8 Corvette, is back with a new creation, a little more up to date this time.

An amazing beach car

Called Coastrunner EV, this newcomer therefore takes the form of an astonishing electric beach car, a thousand miles from those we know. Nothing to do with the electric Moke or the sassy Dartz Freze Froggy Beachstar. It has absolutely nothing in common either with the Citroën ë-Méhari. In short, this creation is one of a kind, and this can be seen first of all by its modern style, far from the retro inspiration of certain brands. No homage to the past here, but futuristic lines inspired by yachts also drawn by the design studio. Like any good self-respecting beach car, this Coastrunner EV has no doors and is distinguished by a completely open cabin.

The interior is also very bare and Obviously not afraid of bad weather or washing with large amounts of water. To tell the truth, this is probably the only common point between this vehicle and other cars of this type. Up to four people can then take place on board the car, which is simply equipped with an analog dashboard. If all the specifics of the vehicle are not known, the manufacturer specifies that it is notably offered with a 60-litre bar in order to refrigerate the bottles of champagne. Just that !

It should be noted, however, that alcohol abuse is dangerous for health and that the public authorities recommend its use in moderation. Remember also that you should not drive while intoxicated.

Launch imminent?

On his site

the brand explains that its Coastrunner EV is powered by a 50 kW electric motor, or about 70 horsepower. If the company gives few details, auto week seems well informed and explains to us that the car weighs only 800 kilos and that the maximum speed is limited to 120 km/h. Not ideal for long journeys, especially since the 20 kWh battery allows a range of only 180 kilometers.

The car will therefore be more comfortable on the upscale coasts of the south of France than on the highways. And precisely, it will be presented to customers at private events in Saint-Tropez, Monaco as well as in Majorca, Corsica, Sardinia and Ibiza.

Savage Rivale clarifies that the prototypes are currently being tested, but that it is already possible to pre-order its copy. However, in October 2019, the firm announced a marketing in Europe during the year 2020. Projects undoubtedly delayed in part by the health crisis. According Autoblog.nlit would then take 36,000 euros excluding options to offer you this Coastrunner EV.
