Cube is a German e-bike manufacturer known and recognized for its road bikes and mountain bikes, among others. The company has naturally gone electric in recent years. In the middle of the 2023 vintage, he decided to strengthen his position in the family VAE niche.

In addition to a two-carrier already present in its catalog, Cube adds the Trike Hybrid, available in two versions: the Family and the Cargo. As their name suggests, each model is intended to transport children on one side, and goods on the other. To do this, their respective rear axle has been slightly modified.

Bosch at the controls

The Family thus incorporates a โ€œlight and resistant boxยป which is decked out with side and high walls to protect children. “Its built-in rain cover lifts on its own with a gas lift, while its versatile seat and safety harnesses can be quickly and easily removed should you choose to carry a load.โ€œ, can we read on the official website.

For its part, the Cargo accommodates a waterproof and lockable box, capable of supporting up to 50 kg of load. A storage compartment is also available in the main frame, while an optional front rack can be added to increase load capacity.

On the rest, the pair is alike in all respects and shares the same technical characteristics. As such, Cube has not done in half measures and offers really interesting high-end components. For example, it is a question of the Bosch ecosystem, engine manufacturer and essential supplier in the world of VAE.

The Trike Hybrids are equipped with a Bosch Cargo Line engine with a torque of 85 Nm, equipped with the Smart System and accompanied by a Kiox 300 on-board screen. The assembly is associated with a manual continuously variable transmission signed Enviolo , very useful for changing gears when stationary and never derailing, as well as a 750 Wh Bosch battery.

Patented tilt technology

In terms of comfort, you have to count on an appetizing combination: Schwalbe Pick-Up tires (24 inches at the front, 20 inches at the rear) and Suntour Mobie34 Cargo suspension fork with 100 mm travel. Not to mention reassuring hydraulic disc brakes provided by Tektro, Auriga Twin+ HD-E745.

Skyrocketing prices

If the group does not hesitate to highlight BMW as a partner, nothing is specified on the nature of this alliance. It is therefore not known at what level the car manufacturer has intervened. It’s a bit of a shame, and it especially brings to mind marketing strategy.

The Trike Family Hybrid is displayed at 7300 euros on the Cube catalog, against 6899 euros for the Trike Cargo Hybrid. Both models have a unique size designed for users between 160 and 190 centimeters.
