This electric car can charge another car faster than many stations

The Zeekr 007 never ceases to amaze us. After its official launch, a small detail struck us: this electric car is capable of recharging another at a power never seen before, even exceeding certain fast terminals!

While the Zeekr brand is still unknown to many of us, that could change very quickly. The Chinese brand, belonging to the Geely group (like Volvo, smart, Lotus or Polestar), indeed offers quite remarkable electric cars.

The latest addition, the 007, is a sedan chasing directly into the territory of the Tesla Model 3. Its official launch allowed us to discover its impressive characteristics, but one point caught our attention: its bidirectional charging capacities reach unprecedented powers. views as can be seen in the technical sheet.

Charge what?

In other words, the Zeekr 007 is capable of powering and recharging other electrical objects directly from its battery. A functionality found in some electric cars (the Tesla Cybertruck being the latest), but which this model takes to new levels.

If it is quite conventionally possible to recharge an external object with alternating current at 3.3 kW (what we call V2L, for vehicle to load), the Zeekr can also power another electric car with direct current, up to a power of 60 kW!

This V2V function (for vehicle to vehicle) is unprecedented in its scale, since this power has never before been achieved by a car. A power that even exceeds certain so-called “fast” terminals, limited to 50 kW…

Concretely, this would allow a small electric car (such as Peugeot e-208) to be fully recharged in around an hour. Outstanding.

Batteries really broken

The good surprises don’t stop there: this feature is standard on all Zeekr 007s, even with the smallest battery. As a reminder, two choices are offered: a fairly revolutionary in-house 75 kWh LFP (lithium – iron – phosphate) battery and a second 100 kWh, NMC (nickel – manganese – cobalt) type, supplied by CATL.

These two batteries receive an 800 volt architecture, enough to guarantee express recharges: 15 minutes of charging on a compatible terminal is enough to recover 500 km of autonomy for the small battery and even 610 km on the large one.

An express recharge which therefore seems to be accompanied by an express discharge. These 60 kW recharges will have to be short if the owner of a 75 kWh 007 wants to benefit from a little battery for himself… In fact, in one hour, around 60 kWh will be transferred to another car with this functionality.
