Aspark is a Japanese company best known for its Owl SP600 electric car. A model which now holds the title of the fastest in the world in its category after reaching a speed of 438.7 km/h.
World record broken by the Aspark Owl SP600
The record previously held by the Rimac Nevera of 412 km/h has therefore been supplanted by the Japanese electric hypercar. That’s not all since this Aspark Owl SP600 went from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.72 seconds, a tenth more than its competitor all the same. The slightest deviation during a world record, even small, has an impact on the final result.
So that the dice are not loaded, the Aspark Owl SP600 electric car beat this world speed record at the same test center, in Papenburg in Germany, as the Rimac Nevera. It was the German pilot Marc Basseng who piloted the machine.
A hypercar that is not designed for the road
In terms of technical data sheet, the Japanese company’s hypercar was entitled to special treatment. The electric car has 4 motors for 1456 kW, a lower weight than the production version and new Bridgestone Potenza tires. Obviously, don’t expect to drive this Aspark Owl SP600 dedicated to the world record which has not been designed for everyday use, as evidenced by the absence of mirrors. It will never be sold as is, that will surprise no one.
