This electric car wants to beat the acceleration record of the Porsche Taycan Turbo, guess who is developing it!

The Xiaomi SU7, already impressive with its 673 horsepower, could soon exceed the 1,000 hp mark. Spotted on the Nürburgring, this Chinese electric sedan is aiming for the record held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, has entered the automotive industry with its SU7 electric sedan. Since its release last March, the SU7 has been a hit, with 120,000 units ordered in 36 hours. It has attracted many users thanks to its performance compared to its competitive price which outclass it compared to certain versions of the Tesla Model 3. Today, the manufacturer is pushing the envelope even further by aiming for performance records for high-end models like a certain Porsche Taycan.

A prototype of the Xiaomi SU7 was recently seen in action on the Nürburgring circuit, in Germany. According to observers, this high-performance version of the SU7 could be equipped with a 673 hp “V8s” electric motor, or an even more powerful motor never before seen on this model. The latter would have a carbon rotor and would be capable of developing 1,000 hp. This prototype is clearly designed to compete with the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Tesla Model S Plaid, which currently dominate the electric sports car market.

Xiaomi could test a 1,000 hp SU7 to beat the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT

The SU7 prototype tested on the Nürburgring presents significant aerodynamic modifications, such as a fixed rear wing and a small front spoiler. These improvements are essential to maximize stability and high-speed performance. There Porsche Taycan Turbo GT for example completed the Nürburgring in 7:07.55, and the SU7 clearly aims to break this record if its power exceeds 1,000 hp. It can also aim for an acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds.

Xiaomi is also emphasizing on-board technology to ensure that the SU7 is not only fast, but also advanced in terms of comfort and safety. The prototype is equipped with 21 inch rimsof ceramic-carbon brakes and a system of reinforced suspension to manage the extreme forces encountered on the circuit. In addition, it benefits from high-end technological equipment which includes touch screens for the front and rear passengers, and a 56-inch head-up display for the driver.
