This electric scooter that “recharges” in a flash will delight Apple fans

The Taiwanese brand Gogoro has revealed its new flagship electric scooter, which features both an attractive physique and the latest on-board technologies.

Does the name Gogoro mean nothing to you? However, you may have already ridden one of the scooters from this Taiwanese brand. Especially if you used to use the two-wheelers from the Coup self-service scooter service (a Bosch subsidiary) in Paris, around 2018-2019. Small, easy to handle, maneuverable and dynamic, they were everything that the Cityscoot was not!

A service unfortunately disappeared in 2019 because “not profitable enough”, and Gogoro has somewhat disappeared from our radars. Except when a bike from the brand reached us in 2021. But Gogoro still exists and, when we see what it offers, we regret not having the brand at home. The proof with the brand new Pulse, the most efficient to date, which we discover via the brand’s website.

Intelligent Matrix LED lights

Abandoning the round, almost cartoonish physique of the brand’s other scooters, the new Pulse is more aesthetically aggressive, and plays more in the realm of maxi-scooters. The eye is immediately drawn to this horizontal front light incorporating multiple squares of light. It is simply a Matrix LED system (or matrix lights) with 13 independent units, which allows the lighting to be adapted in real time to driving. The idea: focus the ray of light where the driver needs it most.

Note also the slot created in the front mudguard to direct air towards the internal radiator and cool the electric motor. For the rest, the style is minimalist to say the least.

Apple integration

Before talking about its performance, let’s focus on connectivity. And you just have to take a look at the dashboard, called Smart Cockpit, to understand that Gogoro hasn’t done things by halves. The panoramic HD screen measures no less than 10.25 inches, it is aided by a Qualcomm chip, and it is touchscreen!

If Gogoro plans to reveal the information little by little, we already know that iPhone owners will be able to benefit from the integration of Apple Wallet directly into the scooter, allowing in particular to unlock the vehicle. And in case you no longer remember where it is parked, the integration of Apple Find My geolocation is also included. To find out more about all the integrated features, you will have to wait until March 19…

A dynamic scooter

As for the technical sheet, here are the few figures that we already have for this Gogoro Pulse. The engine, called Hyper Drive, has a maximum power of 9 kW and an impressive torque of 378 Nm. Enough to be propelled from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.05 seconds. If the maximum speed has not yet been announced, we are still there on a 125 cc equivalent.

Regarding the battery, its capacity and its autonomy, nothing has been filtered either. But as a reminder, Gogoro works on a battery exchange system. In its home market, Taiwan, the manufacturer has no less than 1.3 million batteries in circulation, located in 12,000 exchange stations. Always charged batteries available for its 600,000 customers. A system that Gogoro intends to export throughout the world.

We will meet in the coming weeks (or months) to learn a little more about this Gogoro Pulse, which we hope to one day make its way to us!
