This evening on TV: an unknown nugget from the 80s

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: an unknown police comedy with Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin that will really cheer up your zygomatics.

Very nice buddy-movie nominated for the Golden Globes in the Best Comedy category, Midnight Run is especially worthy of the performance of its main duo. The opposition between the bounty hunter played by Robert De Niro (nominated Best actor in a comedy at the Golden Globes) and the con artist played by the late Charles Grodin (the father of the Beethoven saga) in one of his most significant roles works wonderfully. The proof ? The number of improvised scenes and dialogues based on their involvement and their complicity.

At the controls of this detective comedy which perfectly mixes humor and action, we find Martin Brest, definitely at ease in the genre since it is to him that we owe the very popular Beverly Hills Cop. In comparison, Midnight Run achieved modest commercial success with 81 million dollars in worldwide receipts and more than 500,000 admissions in France. On AlloCiné, the film has an average viewer rating of 3.4 out of 5.
