La Folle Histoire de Max et Léon is the successful transition from small to big screen of a duo known as Palmashow. Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais go to the next level here and sign a worked scenario, staged with efficiency by their friend and accomplice, Jonathan Barré.
On its first day of release, November 1, 2016, the feature film topped the French box office, ahead of its current competitors, Snowden and Mademoiselle.
At the end of its run, it will have attracted more than a million curious people to cinemas, won over by its story (with a small and a large “H”), which will earn it the First Work Trophy awarded by Le French movie.
On September 3, 1939, France declared war on Germany: it was general mobilization. In Mâcon, Max and Léon, two childhood friends with an unflattering reputation, lazy, party animals and first-class good-for-nothings, are forced to follow the movement.
But the Second World War is not for them: they try in vain to escape it. Therefore, all means are good to get fired – mutual mutilation included. Improbable situations soon follow one another and the duo is thus embarked on a crazy historical adventure: occupied France, the United Kingdom and even Syria are not immune.
In line with La Septième compagnie and Grandpa resists, La Folle Histoire de Max et Léon bets on quirky humor against a backdrop of gravity and wins a daring bet.
The feature film is ambitious and its guests prestigious: we laugh here at everything without excuse and without seriousness. The result is a French comedy worthy of the name where winks and clever references and incredible adventures follow one another, as well as giggles.
With this unique and fun adventure, we therefore have proof that the Palmashow is much more than it seems and that the duo Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais is simply perfect.
