This evening on TV: there is Jacques Tati in this comedy with Sandrine Kiberlain and Denis Podalydès

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. This evening: a satirical comedy by the Podalydès brothers.

Wishing for a long time to tell the story of a man forced to hide his paternity to find work, Bruno Podalydès ends up, in 2020, with the scenario of the 2 Alfreds.

To get the job he covets in a very friendly start-up, whose dogma is “No children!”, Alexandre, downgraded unemployed and father of two children, begins to lie. On his way, he meets Arcimboldo, “entrepreneur of himself” and king of odd jobs on apps.

Confirming his whimsical style, Bruno Podalydès transforms a start-up that is both regressive (candy fountains, deck chairs, trampolines and ping-pong tables, toy cars, drones, etc.) and hyperconnected into a small theater of the absurd. Both funny and lucid, The 2 Alfreds thus poses a caustic and light-hearted look at our modern lives.

Carried by Sandrine Kiberlain and Denis Podalydès in great shape, this film full of poetry also ends with a sequence that evokes the best of Jacques Tati, he who also positioned himself, in particular with Playtime, as an amused observer, although a little more worried about modernity.

The 2 Alfreds by Bruno Podalydès with Denis Podalydès, Sandrine Kiberlain, Bruno Podalydès…
