Times are tough for the wallets of the French, and it’s not about to stop what we learn. At the end of 2022, the boss of the Leclerc chain, Michel-Edouard Leclerc had already announced that France was going to be affected by inflation in 2023 never seen in forty years, and he apparently wasn’t wrong! Unfortunately, these are facts that we have seen every day for several months at the checkout in our supermarkets. Butter, oil, meat, jam, chicken… the year 2022 has been one of the most complicated in terms of iinflation. According to the latest INSEE reports, this surge in food prices would have reached a plateau of 12% in one year. It’s not about to stop there, according to the latest information gathered from specialists in the field, many are planning double-digit price increases in the first months of 2023 and especially in the spring. This is why the A3 Distrib institute and a journalist, Olivier Dauvers, have set up a study which made it possible to measure these consumer price increases on more than 1,000 flagship products shelves of our supermarkets.
