Fake installer files Windows 11 currently circulating on the web.

And of course, these are home to particularly dangerous malware.

Fake Windows 11 update with real malware

Like many users, you will certainly decide to take the Windows 11 step this year, and finally install the latest Microsoft OS on your machine. Be careful, however, because fake versions of Windows 11 are currently circulating on the Web, and these are obviously infected.

This is indicated by computer security experts from CloudSEK, who warn users against fake sites, very similar to the official Microsoft site, and which offer to download the precious operating system.

Inno Stealer’s goal: to suck up your data and crypto

The victim will then download a seemingly standard ISO file, which actually houses malware called “Inno Stealer”. The latter will quickly get in working order and install various files on the machine, the latter having the objective of disabling certain features of Microsoft Defender in particular, but also any antivirus present on the computer.

Quickly, Inno Stealer takes care of copying the personal data present in the user’s web browser, without forgetting to take control of any security keys, giving access to cryptocurrency wallets. From then on, the hacker can have access to the various digital currencies of the victim, the malware targeting many popular wallets such as Brave, Wasabi, Ronin or Bisq.

So be careful if you want to upgrade to Windows 11, and we can strongly advise you to take care to go to the official Microsoft website before proceeding with any download. Note that a file for installing the Google Play Store on Windows 11 is also circulating on the Web. Again, this is malware, generating a new script when the browser is launched, with the main purpose of generating revenue for the developer.

Windows 11

  • Graphical redesign of the successful interface
  • Improved Snap
  • Effective anchor groups

To be completely honest, Windows 11 seems to us to be a good evolution of Windows 10. Beyond the very marketing aspect linked to the surprise effect (Windows 10 was presented as the last of the last, remember) and to the mainly graphical redesign of the interface, the update brings a bit of clarity and modernity that are welcome after six years spent with an OS designed to reconcile Microsoft and its audience. We also like the discreet details that make it more functional, such as the improved snap and anchor groups, or even the refined management of virtual desktops. Finally, we are really convinced by the redesign of the Microsoft Store. By agreeing to return to the exclusivity reserved for UWPs, Microsoft is effectively hitting where it is not expected and finally compels itself to catch up on Apple and Google.
