After his elimination, he responded to an interview with Purepeoplewhere he was finally able to explain the theft of bananas that he allegedly committed at the start of the season.
A bad mental calculation at the origin of suspicions
What led to doubt in the minds of Koh Lanta viewers about Maxime’s honesty about this sharing of bananas is his assumption of keeping the bananas for himself which he does, in the face of camera, when he comes across the fruits by chance in the jungle. “I was frustrated because we lost the first event and I didn’t want to share bananas with some girls who said they were maze experts when that wasn’t the case.” Maxime tells Purepeople. He then changes his mind when his comrades join him and the banana affair could have ended there…
