“AIDS was like the plague”

Other personalities will also be there this Saturday March 23 to recall their long-standing commitment, such as host Christophe Dechavanne, known for his famous “Get covered”, a slogan broadcast on television from the 1990s to normalize the use of condoms. “At first, AIDS was like the plague. Dalida, Nana Mouskouri, Thierry Le Luron, they were the first to followthen many joined us”remembers Line Renaud.

A memory of the first Sidaction still marks her: Clémentine Célarié gave a magnificent kiss to an HIV-positive man. What a symbol at a time when it was thought that shaking the hand of an HIV-positive person could prove fatal.” A symbol that is still relevant today, while 30% of 15-24 year olds think that the AIDS virus can be transmitted by kissing an HIV-positive person.
