The new tool that the social network has just put in place will allow the creation of notes intended to provide additional information to a tweet. And Twitter will absolutely not participate in this system, which is intended to be entirely in the hands of the public.

How to bring a little more reason to Twitter, without being accused of censorship? This is a question that arises for all social networks, and even more so for Twitter, whose boss Elon Musk is known for his apology for the most total freedom of expression. Community Notes could be, according to him, the solution.
In principle, this feature, which began in 2021 at the time of Jack Dorsey under the name of “Birdwatch”, will offer the possibility to contributors who have integrated the program to produce notes on any tweet. These “contextualizations” will then be submitted to the votes of the entire community of participants. And if enough people consider the note useful, it will become public and visible to everyone, following the tweet it comments on.
For the billionaire, the feature would be a “ game changer to improve accuracy on Twitter “. And this function, available only in the United States until then, is accessible since yesterday on the whole planet.
A commented tweet will not be moderated.
The interest of this system for Twitter is not only to involve users in the improvement of public debate, but also in a sense to avoid the task of regulating excesses.
