The fifth beta ofiOS 16 brings several new features, including a feature that users have been asking for for years.

Apple has just delivered this Monday August 8 the fifth beta version of iOS 16 to its registered developers.

After years of absence, iOS reintroduces the battery indicator.

The first novelty, and probably the most important in the eyes of many users, is the return of the remaining battery percentage on the locked screen and the home screen. To activate it, simply check the corresponding option in the phone settings, “Battery” section.

Instead of an estimate, the battery icon will this time be completely filled with the number inside corresponding to the battery still available in the iPhone. This indication disappeared with the release of the iPhone X in 2017 and on all subsequent models equipped with Face ID facial recognition.

Be careful however, not all users are in the same boat. iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini owners do not have access to this feature, possibly due to the limited screen size.

For the rest, iOS 16 beta 5 brings some minor improvements such as a new animation for deleting messages in the Messages application, a new sound for locating your iPhone from another device or your Apple Watch as well as a new option “Copy and delete” from screenshots to prevent them from piling up in your photo library.

Users enrolled in the public beta program should have access to this new version in the next few hours.
