There are Christmas films whose longevity is no longer in doubt. Yet well anchored in the 80s and 90s, some continue to arouse the enthusiasm of the most nostalgic, but also of the youngest. And what could be better, some will tell you, than to illegally download these films to watch with your family as New Year’s Eve approaches?
If the most recent blockbusters still have the wind in their sails on the illegal download platforms, there are however certain cinema classics whose success on these same platforms no longer needs to be demonstrated. And during this end-of-year holiday season, these are obviously the most downloaded Christmas films.
But far from romantic films which relate the romantic encounter between two people who are completely opposite (the scenario is hackneyed, but it continues to work), there are also comedies which take place in the middle of Christmas. And among them, there is one who wins all the votes from pirate sites.

The film in question is none other than Mom I missed the plane. Unavailable on Netflix, it is however available on Disney+. It is even one of the trends recommended by Plex, the application which allows you to stream films, series and music locally or on the Web. But not everyone subscribes to Disney+ and illegal downloads are rife.
Like every year, Macaulay Culkin’s escapades against burglars are therefore unanimous. Since the end of November, we have observed a dizzying increase in the number of illegal downloads concerning this cinematographic work by Chris Columbus. According to Torrentfreak, we have gone from less from 5000 downloads per day to nearly 30,000 between mid-November and mid-December 2023.
The reported statistics end on December 20, it is a safe bet that the film sees even higher number of piracy by December 25. Note that last year, the film experienced a new peak in downloads on December 31 and January 1, as it approached 50,000 downloads per day. The same scenario should happen again this year. Mom I Missed the Plane is therefore the most pirated Christmas film in the world and it has no chance of being dethroned by The Grinch, downloaded half as many so far.
