When we talk about speed cameras, we think of a fine for speeding. But a new device has appeared on the roads of France, as reported by our colleagues from Tom’s Guide.
These radars track noise and fine motorists
These anti-noise radars track vehicles that emit noise above the tolerated limit of 85 decibels. The system will therefore fine those who rev the engine of their car or two-wheeler a little too much. This deployment comes after a trial phase in several municipalities including Paris and Nice.

A fine of up to €135 for offenders
After the conclusive test phase, these anti-noise radars are preparing for global deployment as in Bron (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) for next month. The fine is €135 and much less if you pay quickly.
In addition to the speed of your vehicle, you will therefore need to monitor the noise of the engine when you pass near these anti-noise radars located here and there on the roads of France.
