this folding PC combines three devices in one

The Lenovo X1 Fold was at IFA 2022, we were able to use it for about ten minutes.

Who says living room says devices not yet quite ready for the general public, but always interesting to see and try to get an idea of the innovations to come on the market. IFA 2022 is no exception. For this year, folding and flexible screens are in the spotlight, as with the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold Oled.

The first laptop seller in France has to worry, because the world number one Lenovo is also preparing its weapons. It presents its second generation of folding PC, the Lenovo X1 Fold. We saw him and were able to spend some time with him.

A very good finish

First good point that strikes, the device is very well made. The fold to start allows you to completely close the device, without leaving any space between the two parts of the screen. The advantage is immediate: a huge space saving when folded and in particular when compared to its friend from Asus.

Let’s add that the borders seemed excessively thin to me. Small nice notes too, all the aesthetic codes of Lenovo: the little red dot in the middle of the keyboard, the coating on the back very gratin.

Accessories and Windows 11

This good base has the good taste of being accompanied by a stand, a Bluetooth keyboard and a stylus. I was able to briefly use this combo by placing the screen in portrait mode, a use that seems really pleasant for fans of reading or word processing.

The software experience seemed rather refined to me for a product still in the prototype stage. Indeed, when you fold the PC in Flex mode at 90°, a keyboard appears on the lower part of the screen. It can also be made to appear or disappear as desired thanks to dedicated interface elements. In book mode, with the fold in the center, the PC also adapts quickly and effectively passes the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. In short, the Lenovo X1 Fold just has to become affordable for us to fall for it.
