Two years after the launch of its “retro” portable console, capable of playing vintage game cartridges, Analogue is back with its Pocket Glow. The principle remains the same, but with a phosphorescent coating that should be all the rage among those nostalgic for the “nineties”.

If you are interested in retrogaming, you surely remember the Analogue Pocket. Announced in 2020 and launched the following year, this portable console with the false air of Game Boy Color had met with dazzling success thanks to its ability to launch various vintage game cartridges. We learn this week that Analogue intends to reiterate, this time with a luminescent version of its console.

A console that shines in the night

Called Pocket Glow, the latter takes up the same concept of the models launched two years ago, but with a phosphorescent coating that can glow in the dark, a bit like the OnePlus Nord 2 Pac-Man Edition.

As reported Engadget, the console rests on a shell that absorbs light and then re-emits it once it is placed in the dark. In other words, to see it shine, it must first be placed under direct sunlight, under incandescent lighting or under black (ultraviolet) light.

Analogue also indicates that once enough light has been stored, the console can glow at night for a maximum of 8 hours… but it is not known how long exposure to light is necessary to achieve this. result.

The dream accessory of the “cool kids”?

Either way, the Pocket Glow works just like the original Pocket. It can natively read cartridges from any variant of the Game Boy and can also support cartridges from other portable consoles… provided you buy an adapter. Just find out if, like the Game Boy, this Pocket Glow will be able to store Bitcoin or not.

Be careful, however, you will have to be particularly fast (even skillful) to successfully get your hands on this new luminescent version. Analogue speaks indeed of a launch in quantities ” very limited ” 1er next September (at 5 p.m. Paris time), at a price of 250 dollars. Deliveries will begin on September 5.
