Bernard Lavilliers: “I sang too loud”
Bernard Lavilliers explains to our colleagues that he almost found himself in embarrassment because of this bad habit that he picked up alongside his stage companions. “On stage, we set up the monitors. To match with the musicians, I sang too loudly”, remembered the singer in the columns of Libération. A behavior that almost cost his career dearly. “I suffered from vocal cord polyps. Since then, it has been necessary to reduce and modulate,” confides the 77-year-old artist, before tempering: “Actually, it’s gotten quite better.”
A statement which can reassure fans of the singer with the gravelly voice, despite the fear it caused during the Covid-19 pandemic where he suffered a heart problem. “I had a major heart problem during Covid, last January. My cardiologist warned me that I had a valve and aorta problem. And then it happened,” confided the husband of Sophie Chevalier Lavilliers in the columns of Parisian.
