Many electric bike manufacturers rely on crowdfunding campaigns to give their project a financial boost. This is particularly the case of Stealth Electric Bikes, whose VAE Stealth Overlander has already fulfilled its objective with more than 50,000 euros collected.

On February 12, this campaign will end to make way for a production phase scheduled for March 1, when the first deliveries are expected for May 15. If everything goes like clockwork, obviously.

Comfort and endurance

The Australian manufacturer has designed an urban electric bike, which relies on comfort, endurance and dynamism. The Stealth Overlander opts for a suspension fork with a travel of 50 mm in order to absorb shocks and smooth out the roughness of a slightly damaged road. It’s really a plus.

Its generous 800 Wh battery boasts a range of 100 km. The company makes it clear that this radius of action is not theoretical, but real. In principle, this would guarantee the cyclist excellent peace of mind when traveling: he would not have to worry about the level of his battery on each trip.

Nice amplitude

Where the Stealth Overlander is strong is in terms of its torque: the European version of the bike indeed offers a monumental torque of 100 Nm, which should bring breathtaking dynamism to starts and during pick-ups. For comparison, the best motors from Bosch climb to 85 Nm, which is already excellent.

This array of equipment is completed by a 10-speed transmission which should provide a nice amplitude to the user, but also by hydraulic disc brakes with double pistons, five modes of assistance, 28-inch wheels and a screen. 3.5 inch TFT (speed, range, time, odometer).

Front and rear, the aluminum frame incorporates a unique light signature: an illuminated brand logo sits at the front, while a profiled LED lamp projects light directly onto the tire at the rear. .

Pay attention to the version

Available in sizes S and L, the Overlander benefits from an introductory offer set at 3054 euros, against 5091 euros in normal times. We strongly advise you not to set your sights on the Overlander R version, which does not comply with European standards, as it is capable of going at a speed of 45 km/h thanks to the electric assistance.

This model could in this case be considered as a speed bike, a vehicle segment that belongs to the category of mopeds. In this case, the regulations impose a well-defined legal framework: compulsory insurance, license plate, approved helmet and gloves, prohibition to circulate on cycle paths.

In the case of the Overlander R, this is precisely not the case: a speedbike must indeed meet certain mechanical standards – rear brake light, approved mirror – that our protagonist of the day obviously did not take into account.
