The least we can say is that the feature film is causing a sensation since it rose in 48 hours to the top of the most viewed programs in France on Netflix. A great performance for The Black Phonean American horror film co-written and directed by Scott Derrickson and released in 2021 in cinemas.

A breathtaking scenario

Prohibited for children under 12 in cinemas, the film is not recommended for young people under sixteen by the American streaming platform. The Black Phone is an adaptation of the short story The Black Phone by Joe Hill, published in 2004 in the collection Ghosts – Troubled Stories. The story follows Finney Shawperformed by Mason Thames, a shy but smart 13-year-old who finds himself the prisoner of a sadistic killer.

The young man is locked in a room in a completely soundproof basement in which a wall telephone is hung. When the latter starts to ring, the teenager quickly understands that the voices on the line belong to his captor’s former victims. Souls who will do everything so that Finney Shaw does not suffer their sad design and manages to escape from the clutches of his captor. A gripping and well-crafted scenario during which viewers are forced to hold their breath.

And for good reason, Joe Hill is Stephen King’s sonone of the great masters of terror. “I didn’t know it was Stephen King’s son and I just thought right away that this could make a great movie. About a year ago, I had the chance to embark on a new cinematographic adventure and I immersed myself in the adaptation of this short story.
