This horror film with real spiders creates the event and it’s French!

Currently filming, “Vermines” by Sébastien Vaniček is a French horror film in which Théo Christine, Finnegan Oldfield, Jérôme Niel and Sofia Lesaffre face real spiders…

If you are arachnophobic, hang in there! Horror films with spiders are legion, but so far they have been fake insects… Vermin goes further.

Led by Théo Christine (Supremes), Finnegan Oldfield (Cut!, La Terre des hommes), Jérôme Niel (Smoking makes you cough), Sofia Lesaffre (Alone, Robbers) and Lisa Nyarko, this French horror film features real spiders… A real first!

Sébastien Vaniček’s first feature film, the film takes place in a city building. The story revolves around 30-year-old Kaleb. Passionate about exotic animals, he returns home one day with a poisonous spider and accidentally lets it escape. The inhabitants will then have to fight for their survival.

Vermines is co-written by Florent Bernard, to whom we notably owe La Flamme, Le Flambeau and Bloqués.

The first French spider movie

Pierre Mazars, co-founder of Charades who co-produced the film alongside WTFilms, declares in the columns of variety : “It’s a project we’ve all been waiting for: a French spider movie fueled by the energy of an immensely talented young director. This is a film that can revolutionize the genre and has the ability to address the general public as well as moviegoers.“.

Dimitri Stephanides, co-founder of WTFilms promises a film that will not disappoint. “As with all great horror films, the subtext and characters will draw you into the film. We think Sébastien has what it takes to become the next Alexandre Aja“.

Distributed by Tandem Film, Vermines is filming until March 3.
