The Ecovacs Airbot Z1 is said to offer a new, more efficient way of cleaning the air in times of Corona. The air cleaning robot filters bacteria, disinfects with UV light and humidifies the air.

We already know vacuum cleaner robots in various designs. Mobile air cleaning robots, on the other hand, are new and could be a powerful weapon against corona and allergies. Ecovacs presents such a model with the Airbot Z1, although the manufacturer does not explicitly deal with the killing of corona viruses.

The device moves through the room like a vacuum robot, recognizes objects in the room thanks to three-dimensional obstacle detection and the manufacturer’s own TrueMapping technology and can drive around them.
According to the company, the device filters numerous pollutants, including pollen, bacteria (including H1N1, Staphylococcus albus and E. coli), mold, mites and more, via built-in HEPA H13 filters and UV light disinfection. Like modern Dyson air purifiers, the potentially dangerous formaldehyde often emitted by furniture is detected and filtered. During cleaning, the operating noise should not exceed 40 dBa.
Air humidification and camera surveillance are also possible
With the help of two optionally available additional modules, the air can be refreshed and mist-free after cleaning. The robot is thus an air purifier and humidifier in one device. Even if the design might suggest it – the Airbot Z1 designed by the Danish design studio Jacob Jensen cannot replace a vacuum robot.

The device can also increase security in your own home because it has a high-resolution camera. The optics, which Ecovacs dubbed the “HD Starlight Camera”, also work at night and can be linked to a smartphone app. The security of this function has been certified by TÜV Rheinland.
