The trailer for the thriller “The Watchers” by Ishana Shyamalan, the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan, has just been revealed. This is the first film directed by the young woman.
“The apple never falls far from the tree”, this expression takes on its full meaning with M. Night Shyamalan and his daughter Ishana Shyamalan. Already at work directing several episodes of the Servant series, the young woman has just directed her first feature film entitled Les Guetteurs.
This thriller inspired by the bestseller “The Watchers” by AM Shine, follows Mina, a young woman lost in a forest who finds refuge in a house already occupied by three people. She will then discover the rules of this very secret place: every night, the inhabitants must allow themselves to be observed by the mysterious occupants of this forest. They cannot see them, but they watch everything.
The film, whose pitch and premieres are slightly reminiscent of M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film, Knock at the Cabin released in 2023, is carried by Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Oliver Finnegan (The Fear Chronicles, Outlander ) and Olwen Fouere (The Northman, The Tourist) and produced by Shyamalan Sr.
In 2 minutes of trailer, Ishana Night Shyamalan manages to distill a distressing and mysterious atmosphere which intrigues and makes you want to know more about the famous Watchers and already shows a certain mastery of the staging. The feature film is scheduled for release in theaters on June 5.
For his part, M. Night Shyamalan will unveil his next feature film on July 31, 2024, the horror film Trap starring Rolando Davila-Beltran, Josh Hartnett and Hayley Mills. As usual, the pitch is kept secret but we know that the film will take place during a concert.
