This is the cheapest supermarket brand in France for shopping

The consumer association UFC-Que Choisir compared the prices of products sold by several brands, and designated the cheapest in France.

Carrefour, E. Leclerc, Cora, Casino… Today, there are a host of supermarkets scattered throughout the territory. And these large retail chains all practice different price ranges. Naturally, it is sometimes difficult to determine the cheapest supermarket, unless you walk the aisles of each store and compare prices for hours… Fortunately, theUFC-Que Choisir conducted the investigation for usand unveiled its list of brandsas reported BFM TV. The consumer defense association has thus compared the prices of 98 national and private label products that it collected in 1,006 stores of the eight best-known brands in France, namely Auchan, Carrefour, Casino, Cora, E. Leclerc, Colruyt, Intermarché and Système U. It also noted the prices charged on the 4,885 site drives from establishments.

And the big winner is…

The association therefore concocted a basket of products common to all these stores, and its average price was 366 euros, all supermarkets combined. And according to his calculations, the cheapest brand in France is… E. Leclerc! In the latter, the price of the shopping cart was displayed at 348 euros. E. Leclerc is thus ahead of Intermarché (356 euros), Colruyt (363 euros), System U (365 euros) or even Cora (370 euros) and Carrefour (372 euros). At Auchan, the basket passes the bar of 381 euros, followed by Casino, which displays the most expensive rates with a caddy of 408 euros. “Whether for fresh produce, dairy products, sweet and savory groceries, drinks, frozen foods or hygiene products, Casino has the highest prices, while E.Leclerc is cheaper, on a par with Colruyt on hygiene and frozen foods“, explained the UFC-Que Choisir.

Brittany and New Aquitaine, regions where you can save money

The association also indicated the regions where consumers could pay less for their groceries. And it’s in the West, either in Brittany, in the Pays de la Loire or in New Aquitaine, that you can make some savings on your food and other common products. A fact that can be explained”probably“, according to UFC-Que Choisir, by the “strong establishment of E. Leclerc in his historic stronghold of the Great West“. On the other hand, the inhabitants of Ile-de-France and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region are more penalized with more expensive races…

Finally, know that the lowest prices are in two Leclerc installed in the Center and in Hauts-de-Francein which the average basket price is 328 euros.
