The stars of the hit series “This Is Us” mourn their former colleague Ron Cephas Jones with touching statements.

American actor Ron Cephas Jones passed away on August 19, 2023 at the age of 66. He is best known for his role as William Hill on This Is Us, for which he won two Emmys. A number of his former colleagues have spoken out about his death on their Instagram channels.

“One of the most wonderful people”

“The beloved and award-winning actor Ron Cephas Jones has passed away at the age of 66 from a long-standing lung problem,” a rep for the actor confirmed on Saturday opposite “Variety”.

Shortly after the sad news became known, series colleagues remembered the deceased. Sterling K. Brown, 47, who played his birth son Randall on “This Is Us,” dedicated the following words to him on Instagram: “Life imitated art today and one of the most wonderful people the world has ever seen is no longer with us.” The world is now “a little less bright”. He continued: “Brother you are loved. And you will be missed. Make her laugh in the next phase of existence and see you when I’m there.”

“I will cherish all moments forever”

Mandy Moore, 38, who played his son’s adoptive mother in the series, published on her Instagram page a commemorative post. It was “the greatest gift” to have met him and worked with him. “He was pure magic as a person and as an artist… I will cherish every moment forever. While he wasn’t there as much as we all wished he was such an intrinsic part of the fabric of the show, it is like he was always there.”

Chrissy Metz, 42, wrote: “Ron, thanks for brightening up every room you’ve come into.” She was changed by his “kind heart”, his “amazing spirit”, his “immeasurable talent” and his “beautiful smile”. “May your transition be filled with light and peace.” Then she sent afterwards: “You really are the coolest cat.”

The series granddaughters Faithe Herman, 15, and Lyric Ross, 19, also thought of their colleague. Herman wrote, “I’m actually speechless. You were so talented and kind. I’m grateful to have worked with you and you will be missed.” Ross released a statement on an Instagram story: “We’ve only exchanged a few words since we first met. But in that time you’ve had a huge impact on me. Thank you for letting God speak through you and I thank God for blessing me and the rest of the world with your powerful and now peaceful light.”

Together with his daughter he managed a special premiere

Ron Cephas Jones was born in 1957 in New Jersey. He had his first television appearances in 1996 in the series “New York Undercover” and “Law & Order”. He also acted in many plays. From 2016 to 2022 he was part of the cast of the NBC series This Is Us. He received four Emmy nominations for his performance, and won Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award in 2018 and 2020. His daughter Jasmine, 34, also secured her first Emmy for Outstanding Performance in a Short Comedy in 2020. They became the first father-daughter duo to win Emmys in the same year.

His rep said in the statement on the actor’s death: “Throughout his career, everyone who was lucky enough to know him felt his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart. He began his career at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and his love of the stage has been present throughout his career, including his recent Tony-nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning performance for his role in ‘Clyde’s’ on Broadway.”
