this is what PS1 and PSP games look like on PS5

PS Plus Extra and Premium offers are launched in the Asian market, and here is the rendering of PS1 and PSP games on PS5. Two iconic licenses are the subject of these previews in video and images.

The PS Plus Premium and Extra arrive on June 22, 2022 in France, but the new offers are already available in Asia. Following the launch, images and videos of retro games on PlayStation 5 began to flood the Web.

Here is Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey on PS5 via PS Plus Premium

In the first round of retro games for PS Plus Premium, the Asian PlayStation Store has titles we won’t get next month like Oddworld: Abe’s Journey (PS1) or Ridge Racer 2 (PSP).

Our colleagues from MP1st have started their tests of Sony’s new service with Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey. In the video above, they study for more than three minutes the rendering of the PlayStation 1 game and the new features offered. This involves testing different formats (4:3, 16:9…)from filters (default, retro CRT, modern), the save/load your progress anywherefrom super fast loading or even ” rewind in order to rewind the action in case of failure. These retro apps will also have trophies.

Images of Ridge Racer 2

Images taken from the Ridge Racer 2 PS Store listing have also surfaced, and can be seen in our gallery. According to our colleagues at VGC, there is also a warning message:

This title has been converted from the PS1 version to the PS4 and PS5 consoles, and offers new features. Therefore, there may be times when the title differs from the original version, and certain features prevent it from running properly.

The PS Plus Premium will be available on June 22 with big PS4, PS5 and Ubisoft+ Classics games.
