This is what Tesla’s new function looks like to park your car more easily

For many years, Tesla’s automatic parking has struggled to satisfy users. Today, after multiple promises of improvement, a completely revised version is emerging. The opportunity to take stock.

Parking your Tesla will become even easier for owners of the enhanced Autopilot or fully autonomous driving capability. Indeed, Tesla has just pushed a major update to automatic parking, after many years where this functionality seemed abandoned.

Automatic parking finally up to par?

Tesla’s latest over-the-air update should delight some drivers. Unfortunately, it concerns a minority since it only concerns those who have paid for one of the two software options linked to autonomous driving.

As you can see below, the graphical interface has been completely overhauled, correcting the biggest flaws reported so far.

It is now possible to choose places without them necessarily being between two vehicles already parked, and all places which have lines on the ground appear on the central screen.

According to the first returns however, don’t expect the process to be any faster than before. The video put forward by Tesla shows that the maneuver remains very long, and that the car does not exceed 2 km/h in forward or reverse.

As a reminder, automatic parking allows you to park in reverse or in parallel, for a minimum of 3,800 euros (7,500 euros for fully autonomous driving capacity).

This is a real revolution for owners of Teslas manufactured without ultrasonic sensors, since the old version of automatic parking was reserved for cars with the famous sensors. In other words, for more than 18 months, some customers have not yet been able to take advantage of automatic parking, even though they are well paid for before the delivery of their car. Luckily for them, that wait is over.

Customers who have a Tesla with ultrasonic sensors will gradually receive this update, which is based only on the cameras around the car.
